Consett and District Photographic society's

On-line Flickr gallery (C.P.S.)

This is an opportunity for members to upload their own images for display or comment from other members. The gallery is hosted by Flickr but is a private gallery where only club members have access to the images. If you wish to make use of this gallery, first click on the link for Flickr then create your own account (just follow the instructions). I will then authorise your invitation to the group. You may then follow these simple instructions to be able to access the site:-

1)Register with Flickr, (http://www.flickr.com). To do that just click Flickr at the top of this page. It will take you to our Flickr home page. Look at the top of the page and the 3rd option is to sign up. Click that and follow the instructions on how to create a Flickr account. It’s easy and most of all it is free.

2) Once you’ve got an account log in and you will be taken to your account page. If not click the drop-down arrow next to the “You” option across the top and select Your Account. There are a few options it’s worthwhile taking the time to set here.
a) Default Privacy Settings – make sure “Who can see your photos?” is set to Public if not then only you can see them. Not much point if you want to show them off to get feedback.
b) Allowing Downloads – select “Only You” unless you want everyone on Flickr to be able to download it.
c) Your Buddy Icon – here you can upload the same image you use for your avatar on the forum. That way people can associate comments on photos more easily than with just a user name.
There are plenty more options to set but mostly the default setting for those are fine.

3) Back to the top of the screen again and the drop-down next to the “You” option. Select “Upload Photos”. This will take you to the upload screen where you can upload up to 6 images in one go. Just click the browse button next to each field and navigate to where you’ve got your photo saved (have a read of the resizing guide in the Gallery Tips & Help section in the forum for help with the sizing if you are not sure). If you want you can Tag your photos here but I usually leave that to do on each individual image. Make sure the button next to public is ticked or you won’t be able to show the images to anyone and then click upload. To the left of these fields you will notice a large % figure. This is the amount of upload capacity you have used so far this month. Each free member has an upload limit of 100MB per month so remember the bigger the images the less you can upload to your account.

4) Once the upload has finished you will see each image and here you can change the title, add a description and individual tags. Once you’ve added everything you want to each image click Save.

5) You’ll now see the “Your Photos” page. To add your images to the C.P.S. Gallery you will need to join it. To do that look at the top of the page. See the word “Groups”? Click the drop-down arrow next to it and select “Search for a group”. In the empty box type C.P.S. and click search. At the top of the list you should see our group. Click the name and on the next page click “Join This Group?”. I will authorise your membership then you can start uploading images to the club site. Once you’ve joined go back to your photos (Via You).

6) There are 2 ways to upload photos to the group.
a) First - click the photo you want to add and select “send to group” which is just above the image and select Consett PS, then click ok.
b) Second - go to Organize at the top of the page and select “Most recent uploaded photos”. A new interface will appear with your latest uploaded photos in the box in the centre. Click “Send to group” and then choose “C.P.S.”. When done click ok.

Your images are now uploaded to the C.P.S. Gallery for all our members to enjoy.

Our group is a private group and you must first receive and invite to join. Other groups may be public and open to anyone to join, you can obviously now join other groups and display your photos on them.
